more new books

I was remiss in not mentioning other new books by friends new this week: Seth Harwood's "Jack Wakes Up," Ken Bruen's "Sanctuary," Michael Connelly's "The Scarecrow" and George P. Pelecanos's "The Way Home." In my defense the last three guys are doing okay in the publicity department on their own, and in Seth's case he's gone a little bit bananas promoting it himself. But as Seth would point out, if he hadn't started going bananas well over a year ago the book probably never would have seen print at all, and the book is a gas.

  1. Sanctuary is the best of the Taylor novels in my opinion; fast paced and brutal. The follow up is suppose to be set in Mexico. I've been off and on with Pelecano's, although I've picked up the Way Home and plan on going to the Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale, AZ to listen to the man read on Thursday (05/23); the Scarecrow is your usual Connelly. And what can you say about, Seth? I'm sure he was P.T. Barnum in another life; but Jack wakes up is solid.
